Blair and Bangkok
Monday, May 19, 2008 at 07:24PM Blair will not sign and approve my Travel Authorization form for a business trip to Thailand next week so
that I can take care of urgent company business.
She will, however, sign and approve a travel authorization form for a trip to Singapore where I have absolutely no company business.
So even though my business is in Thailand, she will only approve a trip to Singapore.
Blair has been very impressed with Singapore since the caning of Michael Fay in 1994. She has had little respect for Bangkok since the song One Night in Bangkok by Murray Head.
While Blair certainly thinks Thailand is a beautiful place, she does not believe it's the place for me. Blair does not trust me in the same building, so there's no way in hell she's going to let me go to Bangkok.
I told Blair that Fessler the CIO specifically requested that I go to Bangkok. The form had already been signed by my boss Alan Smithee. And although Smithee doesn't really exist, like everyone else in the company, Blair believes that he does. But even though she believes he exists and recognizes his signature, she refuses to provide the Finance approval for my Travel Authorization form.
I sent an email as Smithee to Blair's boss Kornfeld complaining that she wouldn't approve my trip to Thailand to take care of urgent company business. Kornfeld asked Blair why she wouldn't approve my trip to Thailand and she told him that it was cheaper to fly to Singapore. She also said that the company got better deals on hotels in Singapore.
Kornfeld sent a message back to Smithee stating that a trip to Singapore would be much more cost effective and therefore, in the best interest of the company, I should change the destination of my business trip to Singapore which Blair would approve immediately.
Smithee escalated to Mulhausen, who then escalated to Fessler the CIO. Fessler called Osaka the CFO and complained that Finance was penny pinching again. Osaka complained that his laptop crashed again and that I.T. had its head up its ass. Both slammed their phones down and avoided each other the rest of the day.
Well, it looks like I'm going to Singapore.

Something tells me you'll make it over to Bangkok. When you do, be sure to hit the Patpong District in downtown. You'll get hit with a ton of bangkok-fuey action! Just be sure to check for adam's apples!
